How to Best video quality with Black Hole images

” I have tested this only on my VU+ Duo, but cannot see why it would not work with Solo as well.

You will see a massive differance………..

After many and many tests this is my final conclusion about to have the maximum image quality on my VU+ Duo with SD and HD channels.
This is only my opinion and the best result in SD & HD channels quality image with my VU+ Duo and my TV.

To Change settings:

(a) First of all we have to consider that progressive mode is better than interlaced mode. The best default setting is 720p and not 1080i.
We will use autoresolution plugin to have 1080i on the HD channels that use that resolution, but the default config have to be in progressive mode to have a best stable image in vertical refresh, in scrolling titles and in image fluidity.

(b) Second of all we have to consider that to have a good image quality in SD channels we have to use the autoresolution plugin to force the dreambox to use resolution of 576p on SD channels that is the best way to have a good image quality.
We will try to force the 576 interlaced mode to work in 576 progressive mode because this is the best result.

PROCEDURE:

Because the autoresolution plugin needed an enigma restart to have the correct default value we have to:

1. Go in menu -> setup -> system -> av/settings use the settings like in (a) 720p and save. Then restart enigma2

2. Go in menu -> setup -> system -> autoresolution use the settings like in (b) 576p on all SD and 1080i HD interlaced mode then save. Restart enigma2 and enjoy !!

How to setup picons on to usb stick ViX

” In this tutorial I am going to show you how to put picons onto usb stick. This is 1 of a few ways of doing this and for me this is easier than unplugging usb plugging back in etc lol

For this you need a usb stick formatted as fat32 or ext3 and the usb to be mounted correctly in device manager as media/usb
You can check if this is the case by going to Menu/Setup/ViX/Devices Manager and should look like this below

If your usb isnt mounted correctly then press “Green” to setup mounts then highligh usb and use you left and right arrows on your remote to get to media/usb and then press “Green” to save the settings

How to view 4.2.2 Channels/Feeds

” 4.2.2 Feeds/channels are able to be viewed via the Vu ( and many linux boxes) via home streaming. This is where you tune the Vu into the channel and then stream it to your computer to view the channel.

There is probably other ways but this is how I do it.

1. Make sure your Vu and your computer are both connected to your home network.
2. VLC is installed on your computer.
3. Scan in the channel you wish to view on your Vu box.
4. In the address bar on the computer type the ip of your Vu and log into your box.
5. Select channels from the top banners and select the channel you wish to view.
6. To the right of the channel you select there should be a monitor icon, click that and then view.

Some things may be slightly different depending on which image and version your using. ”

HOWTO stream from Vu+ to Ipad/2

” I received yesterday this nice gift (Ipad2) and i started to play with it trying to stream contents from my Vu+ box.

The tests results are in my opinion excellent. I can see in my Ipad2 the streaming from Vu+ box in high quality, zap channels and bouquets, view recorded contents, select audio and subtitles, epg and all htat i need.

This Howto implies the following hardware and configuration:

Vu+ Uno box with Black Hole 1.6.2 firmware connected to my router via network cable (tuner sat + tuner usb Dtt)

Ipad2 64G wifi/3g connected to my router via Wifi

Warning i tested the streaming between Dm8000 and Ipad both connected via wifi but the result was not good because all the traffic on my wifi cause lag and blocks.

SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE CABLE CONNECTION FOR THE BOX AND WIFI CONNECTION FOR IPAD.

Let’s start the howto.

1) First of all we have to download the dedicated app from applestore.

- Connect from your Ipad to Apple Store and download and install the app: Dreambox Live (it costs about 5 Euro)

2) Setup the application.

This step is simply:

- Type: Enigma2

- Label: your Vuplus box model

- Ip-address: ip of your box (you can see in box network adapter screen)

- Zap Mode: Mirror

- Quality: High

- Username: root

- Password: yourpassword

If you have not set up a password in your box you can leave the default values

- You can leave untouch all the other settings (Webif Port, Cache, Streaming Port, Audio Sybnronization.

When all is ok you can push the button “Done”

The Ipad will connect to your box and you will have the stream from your Vu+ in a few seconds.

You can simply touch the screen to access to all the options:

3) Browse Bouquets

Pushing on the top left button to have the list of the Bouquets available on your Vu+ box.

4) Zap channels

On the same Menu-List you can enter into channel list and zap to channel you want

5) Access to your media

Push on the second button you can access to your recordings and play your media files.

6) Audio and subtitles.

The third button allows you to select your preferred audio track and to manage subtitles

7) Following we find the “Volume slider”, the “Reload” button (useful in case of lost connection or to resynchrnonize video in dynamic change of aspect ratio) and the “Settings” button.

Finally you have the list of the boxes. You can edit the settings of the current box and you can add other boxes in your configurations and simply switch between each other in a comfortable menu.

8) Finally pushing the small (i) button on the osd you can access to epg info.

Conclusion: A really great app complete and working fine with Vu+ boxes and Ipad.

Cifs Share BH images with WindowsXP

” Cifs setup with NetworkBrowser.

On your winXP PC you must make first share folder .
In my example folder VU on XP PC.
After this you can config Cifs on your VU
(if you use pass on your PC you have to use also pass in Cifs setup VU yes or no shot 4 and 5)
You can use this share for recording/HDD CIFS if you like
(in Cifs setup panel use HDD replacment yes or no)

Mount with BH Mount Wizard go the same way
the only path may be different.

For those who do not know and I think that many people do not know
It is possible to use the CIFS mounted computer DVD player
with VUDuo and watch DVDs from your computer DVD player

First you have to do is include/make share of DVD player
on the computer and you have to config/make CIFS share DVD player
with NetworkBrowser (first post)
(So all is the same as the folder shere example in first post)

Now you can play DVDs with your PC DVD and DVD player inside BH image. ”

Differences from DM800 HD PVR to Cloneboxes

Dreambox 800 vs. Klonebox 800

!!!!! Here you will find details of the differences between a CloneBox 800 an the original DreamBox 800. The differences can deviate depending upon the CloneBox manufacturer or/and DMM can also change some components or something. If you have doubts whether your DreamBox is an original of DMM or if you surely have a CloneBox, then contact:

Dream Multimedia Mail : plagiate@dream-multimedia-tv.de

Here a list of the known differences between an original DM800 DH PVR and a plagiarism.

Housing screws

The Housing screws of the DM 800 are for tin metal sheet with a rough thread.

The Housing screws of the Clone 800 are with a fine thread.

The screws at the back of the DM 800 differ from those of a clone 800. The screws for the eSATA connector are silver all other screws are black.

The screws at the back of the Clone 800 are silver up to the two housing screws.

Surface of the Housing

The frame cover of DM 800 is painted with a structure.

The frame cover the clone 800 is painted brilliant.

HDMI Kabel

The original HDMI cable of DM 800 is bound together with a rubber band.

The HDMI cable Clone 800 is packed a bag.

Power Supply Unit

The original Power Supply Unit of a DM 800 should look in such a way.

This is a Power Supply Unit from Clone Boxes

Modem

The modem of a DM 800 is pasted with a not leading foil and on the back of the modem are components (IC, resistor …) to be seen.

At the modem of a Clone 800 is missing the foil as well as the components.

DreamBox Security SIM Card

The SC in the DM 800 is clearly to recognize marked and with a resin or an glue fixed.

Under the SC Card of a DM800 there are a lot of printed signs.

The SC of the Clone is blanc and not fixed. On new Clone versions are SC Card´s with Hologram.

Under the SC Card of a Clone there are a hand marked sign in this example an “A”.

CPU Cooler

The DM 800 have no CPU Cooler.

The Cloneboxes have a CPU Cooler.

Label on mainboard

This DM 800 Mainboard are labelet with 800 REV: and the 14 pin connector is right of the sata connector.

On this Clone Box Mainboard is a label with DM800 REV: and the 14 pin connector is left of the sata connector.

Security Hologram

From July 2008 until June 2009, a Security Hologram was attached on the packing as well as on the rear side of the unit. Newer boxes again ship without this hologram.

Instead, in the future a plugin shall be available, calculating a verification number that can be entered and checked on Dream Multimedia’s website.
